Ministries

Parish Council

An advisory council to the pastor.  Members are chosen through a yearly 'selection' process of nominated names. There are representatives from the standing commissions and committees in attendance at the council meetings. Parish council discusses parish business. Each of the standing committees gives a brief report of their activities.

  • Finance Council  - Advises the Pastor on financial matters of the parish. Responsible for monitoring all income and expenses, and approving the annual budgets.

  • Education Commission- Responsible for the religious education of all parishioners.

  • Christian Service Commission  - Assists members of the parish and community with their needs.

  • Worship Commission - Responsible for guiding the continuing liturgical renewal of the parish.  Prepares for liturgical celebrations and evaluates worship activities.  

Liturgical Ministries

We work together to make Mass the center of our parish life.

  • Music Ministry- Join together in song, under the talented direction of our Dennis Owens, choir director.  Rehearsals on Tuesday evenings, 6:15pm in the church.  Sing at Saturday or Sunday Mass, following a rotation schedule.  Contact Dennis at dennisowens22@gmail.com or call the parish office.
  • Eucharistic Minister - Extraordinary Ministers of Communion who serve the Body and Blood of Christ at Mass and to the sick and homebound.
  • Lector- Readers who proclaim the Scriptures at Mass and other liturgical services.
  • Altar Server- Boys and girls in grade three and above who assist the priest at Mass.
  • Hospitality Minister- Welcome people to the church.  They also take up the collection.
  • Senior Living Eucharistic Ministry- Teams of two ministers provide Liturgy of the Word and Holy Communion services to area senior living communities. Our ministry includes members from four parishes.

Thursday Morning Bible Study

Join us Thursday mornings at 9:30am in the Parish Office Dining Room to read and reflect upon the upcoming Sunday’s Gospel.  Contact ChrisPlatko at cplatko@stdominicsaginaw.org

Offertory Counters

A group that counts the funds collected at Mass each week. Each group volunteers about once a month.

Food Pantry

Members from five different parishes in the area assisting the community with food on Tuesday's and Thursday's from 1pm-3pm.

Liturgical Linen Service

Responsible for the preparation and care of the altar linens. This includes the washing and ironing of purificators, corporals, and altar linens.

RCIA

Rite of Christian Initiation – preparation of adult candidates for Catholic sacraments.

Sacristan

Duties include preparing the altar for Mass and cleaning the altar following Mass.

Miracle Hour Prayer Group

With an infilling of the Holy Spirit through prayerful recitation of Miracle Hour prayers of praise, thanksgiving, forgiveness, and with reflection of the Gospel, we support and uplift each other, all members of the Church, and people everywhere. Miracle Hour begins at 11:00am with divine mercy beginning at 10:45am. Gathering takes place in the small chapel in the parish office.

Stations of the Cross

 Held Friday evenings during Lent.

Eucharistic Adoration

First Fridays from 7:30am to noon in the Day Chapel at the St. Stephen site.  The Blessed Sacrament is exposed and adored by anyone who wishes to come.  Bring a friend!
